Twitter’s Ex-CEO Parag Agrawal, 2 Others Sue Elon Musk Over Legal Bills. Take A Look:- The ex-CEO of Twitter, Parag Agrawal, along with the company’s previous chief legal and financial officers, have filed a lawsuit asserting that they are entitled to reimbursement of over $1 million, and that Twitter is obligated to pay them under the law.
On Monday, three Twitter executives who were dismissed by Elon Musk after he acquired the social media company last year filed a lawsuit, seeking reimbursement for expenses related to litigation, investigations, and congressional inquiries linked to their previous positions.
In the lawsuit, the former CEO of Twitter, Parag Agrawal, and the company’s previous chief legal and financial officers argue that Twitter owes them over $1 million and that the company has a legal obligation to pay them.
In keeping with its standard practice, Twitter replied to a request for comment from AFP with an emoji of feces.
While the court filing itemizes multiple costs associated with inquiries by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Department of Justice (DOJ), it does not specify the nature of the investigations or whether they are still ongoing.
According to court documents, both Agrawal and Ned Segal, the former chief financial officer, provided testimony to the SEC last year and have since maintained communication with federal authorities.
The SEC is investigating whether Musk complied with securities rules when he amassed Twitter shares.
After Musk’s release of the “Twitter Files” related to content moderation on the site late last year, former Twitter’s chief legal officer Vijaya Gadde was asked to participate in a US congressional hearing on big tech and free speech.
The court filing revealed that Vijaya Gadde was also named as a defendant in a lawsuit filed by a man who claimed he was “doxed” as a white supremacist on Twitter.
Elon Musk terminated Parag Agrawal, Vijaya Gadde, and Ned Segal from their positions in late October last year following his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter.
Rewritten: The three ex-executives contend that Twitter is obligated to pay them according to their agreements but has only acknowledged receiving their invoices.
Elon Musk, after taking over the social media site, reduced its workforce to a large extent, which raised worries about its resilience and capacity to combat disinformation and other forms of abuse.
Twitter has been accused of not paying its rent and other bills in the wake of Elon Musk’s cost-cutting measures.
In addition, advertising revenue at the social media giant has reportedly taken a hit due to concerns about the proliferation of misinformation and hateful content following Musk’s decision to scale back moderation efforts.
