“The Office Is Not Optional”: Elon Musk Emails Twitter Employees At 2:30 AM:- This comes after Mr. Musk mentioned in his message that Twitter’s San Francisco offices were “half empty yesterday.”
ACCORDING TO A FORTUNE MAGAZINE REPORT, Twitter CEO Mr. Musk emailed employees early Wednesday to inform them about the microblogging site’s remote-working policy.
“The office is not optional,” Mr. Musk said in the email to employees, which was sent at 2:30 p.m., according to the outlet’s report, based on tweets from Zoe Schiffer, the platform’s managing editor.
According to Mr. Schiffer’s tweet, the social media platform’s new owner said in his message that the company’s San Francisco office was “half empty yesterday.”
However, it should be noted that the billionaire has laid off thousands of employees since taking control of the platform.
This is not the first time such an incident has happened. Mr. Musk often shares brand-new corporate policies in late-night emails.
According to the Washington Post, he told staff members that they would need to become “extremely hardcore” and encouraged them to work long hours in an email at 2 a.m. shortly after his acquisition of Twitter.
Citing the importance of this requirement to company culture, he first ordered Twitter employees in November to work at least 40 hours per week.
It should be noted that Twitter had already established a flexible remote working arrangement before the acquisition.
Mr. Musk is not in favor of working remotely. Last year, the Tesla chief announced that “everyone at Tesla is required to spend a minimum of 40 hours per week at the office”, and “if you don’t show up, we’ll assume you’ve resigned”. However, it drew criticism from activist advocates regarding the potential risk of Covid-19.
