A Silicon Valley Bank employee attempted to serenade Elon Musk with an Alanis Morissette parody, pleading for the billionaire to buy the failed bank:- Several SVB employees applauded a post calling for Elon Musk to buy the bank with a parody of an Alanis Morissette song.

The post comes after the bank’s public downgrade last week. A former Silicon Valley bank employee is calling on Elon Musk to buy the failed financial institution even after a federal bailout and the billionaire is facing backlash over his Twitter purchase.

In a post to LinkedIn, 11-year-old SVB employee Mona Maitra called out Musk for buying the bank using a parody music video of Alanis Morissette’s “Ironic,” filmed in a Tesla.

“Mona oh my god you nailed it!!!” commented someone also identified as an employee of Silicon Valley Bank.

Musk tweeted last week that he was open to buying the failing bank and later warned that its collapse mirrored the Wall Street crash of 1929.

This light-hearted post comes after the highly public collapse of Silicon Valley Bank on Friday, which sparked a long and wide-ranging debate over how to handle the bank’s failure.

Over the weekend, the Federal Reserve, the FDIC, and the US Treasury announced bailouts for the bank’s customers – mostly venture capital and startup businesses.

“Depositors will have access to all their money from Monday, March 13,” the statement said. “No damages associated with the resolution of Silicon Valley Bank will be borne by the taxpayer.”

But the move drew criticism and comparisons to the bank bailout during the Great Recession.

While many applauded the “sarcastic” parody, some SVB employees cautioned that the buyout by Musk may not be a silver bullet.

“Guys, take note. Elon is not a keeper,” wrote SVB project manager Kelly Dean-Crowley.

However, amid the disappointing results, some used the parody to celebrate the company’s employees.

“I laughed, I cried, I sent this to all of the SVBers closest to me. You are amazing, Mona,” wrote Jenny Halleran, SVB’s deputy chief BSA officer. “People like you are why it’s all so hard.”
